FRAME Announces Expansion To 26 Museums

FRAME (French Regional American Museum Exchange) is pleased to announce the expansion of its consortium from 24 to 26 museums in France and North America to include the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes in France and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO and to grant full membership status to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal, Canada, previously an associate member. At its founding in 1999 by Mrs. Elizabeth Rohatyn, Co-President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, FRAME included 18 museums.

FRAME continues to grow and evolve, providing its members with exceptional opportunities to collaborate in developing exhibitions and educational programs, and offering new models for international collaboration through its exchanges of ideas, projects, and professional staff, said Dr. Charlotte N. Eyerman, Director, FRAME, North America. All three of these museums boast outstanding collections and bring new professional expertise from their excellent staffs.

FRAME has organized numerous exhibitions with venues in France and North America, including most recently “The Mourners: Tomb Sculptures from the Court of Burgundy,” organized by the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon and the Dallas Museum of Art, under the auspices of FRAME. This award-winning exhibition has been seen to this day by more than 300,000 visitors and is presently on view at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art until 31 July 2011. It then travels to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (Palace of the Legion of Honor), and will conclude its tour at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond in 2012. The accompanying catalogue by Sophie Jugie, Director of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon was published by Yale University Press, in collaboration with FRAME and the city of Dijon, produced by Marquand Books.
